During lockdown I set myself the task of printing 351 postcard size prints inspired by the Rembrandt’s I had seen at The National, Rijkes and Lady Lever Galleries. My intention was to embrace both the experimental approach Rembrandt adopted in his printmaking and his fascination with the aging process. To achieve this I have worked from a singular collagraph plate and attempted to reproduce it 351 times (the number of years since Rembrandts passing) and in doing so record its ‘deterioration’ and ‘aging’. I am currently on print number 243 and anticipate completion by the end of September. Above left is the collograph plate in its present state and, on the right is a print taken from it.
